DIY Personalized Christmas Present

Christmas is almost here!! If you're still in need of gifts, check this DIY idea out. It's a personalized "treasure" box. Fill it with trinkets and it's a gift within a gift.
I failed to take proper pictures of this project (ack sorry!) so I will post pictures and links to the things that can be used as well as my final result. This project is super cool because you can tweak it to fit whoever you are giving it to. Think of some things they like (t.v. shows, movies, music, animals, colors, etc) and run with it. There is no way you can mess it up! Plus you made it yourself so they HAVE to love it. Friend code doesn't allow you to throw out handmade gifts ;)

FIRST
You are gonna need a plain box. You can use a wooden treasure chest type thing like this

OR you can use a paper mache box like these

Either work it is all up to personal taste. (both options are under a dollar; no worries friends)
I got my boxes at Joann Fabrics. Any craft store will have them just check the area near the wood projects!

SECOND
This is where it gets exciting. With your decorating plan in mind, pick out some decorations. This is a great time to use up those awful plastic beads. You know the kids' pony beads and funky charms. I'm just gonna list some things that can be used:
  • Letter beads
  • GLITTER. LOTS OF GLITTER.
  • RHINESTONES
  • novelty items like a toy dinosaur or a barbie arm
  • ribbon or trim
  • pipe cleaners
  • pom poms
  • paint or markers
  • images to paste on (online, from magazines, etc.)
  • you're also gonna need glue or modge podge.

FINALLY
Slap everything on and seal with modge podge. (very important step!! It holds everything together and prevents anything from chipping off.)
Once its done you can add little presents like jewelry, a gift card, or maybe a nice note. (I'm stuffing mine with handmade rings and a glitterfied mike wazowski)

(If you were confused "egg pist" is a little inside joke)

Again sorry for the sucky picture quality. I took them on my phone in terrible lighting. It was the best I could do in 2 am lighting!

 Thanks for reading!
